Yes, i am talking about the recent slapping incident which took place in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.A few MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) legislators were involved in the shameful violent incident with Abu Azmi as he decided to take oath in Hindi.
We do have a few 'educated' people also who follow and believe in the ideology of Raj Thackeray and MNS.I am just wishing for them to come up and try to defend about what happened, as there are a few questions that we would really like to have answers for.
For starters, how is speaking in one language an insult to another? And why should such an incident happen with someone who was speaking in our national language.? Not that we would get answers to this questions as we all know its more to get into the news more than any kind of love towards the state or its language. Cause Mr Raj Thackeray surely is unaware that being a north Indian staying in Maharashtra from last 24 years i can speak better and fluent Marathi than many normal maharashtrians and the other Marathi people staying outside the state. Are we included in the segment of population the MNS loves cause we know the language?
For those who have rejoiced for the victory of MNS as missing a few basic facts. Yes you did manage to grab 13 seats in your first year which Shivsena couldn't manage and took more than 10 years to get to double figures but was it not more cause you had a settled Marathi vote bank which the Shivsena had created? Did you not just steal the food to eat which was cooked by someone else? And yes you did get 13 seats but have we considered that fact that MNS was also the second largest party with candidates who lost their deposit in the elections. More than 65% candidates lost their deposits. Does it really mean Victory?
MNS won 6 seats in the Mumbai region i.e. half of its total seats won as Mumbai is the region most hit by migrating population. So unless the whole of Maharashtra faces this problem for 20 years after the problem starts i do not foresee the MNS coming into power. And mind it that the chances of the whole state facing this trouble are very bleak. Now i am sure Victory in 13 has started looking a little less.
And though the ideology of MNS is debatable , what surely is not is the way they want their demands to be met. The Slapgate in Mah Assembly is surely a slap on our democracy and a clear signal that this politics of language is not going to help them move ahead. Cause when things are forced people would surely retaliate. A few did by taking the oath in English and a few like me who would avoid use of the language.
We all know what politics is Mr Raj Thackeray but what you would surely wish to know is the way to power. And last but not the least, we all know you are a builder so please assure that from now on all the workers in all your construction sites are "Marathi' speaking. It would help your cause. As the few educated people supporting you would soon find out the double standards.

The 'Weaker' Sex
I know what the feminists would have thought reading the title. They would either be ready to applaud or fight depending on what is the body of the post. But relax, this is not a conclusion on any gender in particular but a small humorous true incident with just a few thoughts.
I was travelling in a bus which started getting packed by each passing stop. There was a married couple sitting on the 'ladies' seat. For better imagination let me add that the bus that i was in, follows a route in the industrial belt and is packed almost 90% by the workers of the various industries. Nows soon as the bus gets completely packed, a group of women get in and rush towards the ladies seat. One of them(lets call her X) tells the man that he needs to get up as this is a ladies seat.To which the wife replied, " Kahan Likha hai?" ( where is it written?). X now gets angry with this question and starts abusing her, also showing the plate where its mentioned that this seat is a ladies seat.
Our man now wants to get up and give his seat but the wife does not allow him to. She argues, " Poora Bus hi ladies hai kya? Baki log ko uthao. Mere marad ko nahi uthaneka" ( The whole bus is ladies only.Tell others to get up and not my husband).
X now gets really angry and starts calling the bus conductor. The man now gets angry on his wife and scolds her to allow him to get up. He even stands but is forced to sit down again. The men around now start smiling. X keeps getting angrier by the minute. The bus conductor decides that it would be best for him to not interfere between the 2 women. The verbal rant between X and the wife continues for another 10 minutes in which both accusing each other to be illiterate and silly.Poor husband doesn't know where to hide his face and just keeps watching outside the window.
These are the times i feel, who is the ' weaker' sex actually? Most of the times i see a women being the reason for the pain and suffering of another woman. Have you ever seen where the main problem maker is a male. Be it 'Komolika' or 'Tapasya'.Its all the same. And its the poor male who gets caught in between this fight. Who has no option but to look out of the window or ponder as to who the weaker sex is!!
Ohh , and did i forget to mention, Adam ate the forbidden Apple because he was forced to do so by Eve.. the ' weaker' sex..lol
Cheers!!!

Back to INDIA
I know this is coming after a long time, but this was cause all this time i was under the sheer joy of coming back to my country. Now that i am back and settled i will continue the blogs.
Being Back to India was good. Rather the excitement to reach the D-Day ( D- Day refers to the day of my return journey) was more than the D- day itself and later.
The return journey from Airport to my home was full of cars honking at each other. For the first few instances i looked back in anger as i saw no reason for the car to honk and abuse me but soon i realized that honking is not abusing here. its just a part of driving. we are taught to use both brakes and horn equally!!! My brother jumped a red traffic light at 1 Am on my journey back. i Shouted , " Kya kar raha hai?? ". He replied with a cool and calm attitude, "Welcome to India bro". and then we all laughed. I cannot forget the welcome..he he
Then came the time when i had to go to my workplace. And i promised myself that the first thing i would do on my next holiday is to get a damn bikers license.I could not get into the bus and trains. the same transport means that i used all my life. Did the population rise so much in 1 year??? May be not by my attitude changed. I kept waiting to get in and others got in and soon there was no room left for me and a few others. I stood down there looking like a fool. I just made a few attempts to look like i-was-not-planning-to catch-the train-anyways types!!!!
Celebrated Diwali with my family. But was it really a big thing!!! to be with my family makes me happy. Diwali or No Diwali did not make a difference. I am anyways not a very festive person. For me its just normal holidays where you can get up late and spend the whole day doing nothing!!
Something tells me i am not very happy to be back. The pollution, the roads, the population makes me feel that life is definately better outside India. I don't know if my India-Mahann feelings have completely died or no but they have reduced for sure. May be more time here would get those feelings back.. Only time will tell!!!!!!
